Terms of Use
Last updated: September 13, 2026
About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and Twofold. They cover the Twofold iOS app, twofoldapp.com.au, and everything you can do with either. By creating an account or using the app or the site, you're agreeing to them.
Twofold is operated by Orange Finch. They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your information.
Who can use Twofold
You need to be at least 16 to use Twofold, and old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live. Twofold is built for two people in a relationship - it isn't a social network, a dating app, or a way to monitor somebody.
You can't use Twofold if we've previously terminated your account.
Your account
- You sign in with Apple, with Google, or with an email address and a password. Keeping that account secure is your responsibility - anyone who can sign in as you can see everything you and your partner have shared.
- Give us accurate information, and keep it up to date.
- One account per person. Don't share it, and don't sign in as someone else.
Tell us at hello@twofoldapp.com.au if you think someone else has access to your account.
Connecting with a partner
- You connect by sending an invite code. Codes expire 3 days after they're created.
- Only connect with someone who wants to be connected to you. Everything shared in Twofold is visible to your partner, so this only works if both of you agree to it.
- You can be connected to one partner at a time.
- Either of you can end the connection at any time, without the other's agreement. Doing so archives what you shared rather than deleting it.
Subscriptions
Twofold Plus and Twofold Premium are auto-renewing subscriptions, available monthly or yearly. Some features need an active subscription; which ones is set out on the pricing page and may change as the app develops.
What a subscription buys is the ability to add. Adding trips, memories, flights and the daily question needs an active subscription. Everything already in your account does not: with no subscription you can still open the app, read all of it, export it and delete it, for as long as the account exists. We don't lock you out of your own history, and we don't hold it to ransom.
Either partner's active subscription unlocks the corresponding features for both of you. Only one of you needs to subscribe.
You can subscribe through the App Store, or on this website:
- App Store subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal, and are managed from your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, under Apple's standard terms.
- Web subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period and can be cancelled at any time. Payment is processed by Stripe - we never see or store your card details.
- A subscription started on the web is tied to the Apple ID you sign in with at checkout. Sign in with that same Apple ID in the app to get what you've paid for.
- Our prices are set in Australian dollars, and are shown to you in your own currency wherever the App Store or our web checkout supports it. The amount shown at checkout is the amount you pay; tax may be included in it or added to it depending on where you are.
If we change our prices, we'll tell you before the change applies to you, and you'll be able to cancel before it takes effect.
Accounts nobody uses
If nobody opens your account for two years, we close it and delete what's in it.
- This is about use, not payment. A lapsed subscription never starts this clock - an account that's opened now and again is kept indefinitely, subscription or no subscription.
- If you're connected to someone, it's the two of you together: either of you opening the app keeps both accounts and your whole shared history.
- We'll email you 30 days before, and again 7 days before. Opening the app is all it takes to stop it, and there's nothing to confirm or reply to.
- When it happens, the accounts close the way a deleted account does, and anything you shared is deleted on the usual 90-day archive timer described below.
Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel any time. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and we don't pro-rate a partial period.
- After that, the account carries on read-only: your trips, memories, photos, flights and answers stay where they are and stay exportable, and adding new ones is what needs a subscription again. The same applies if your partner is the one who was paying, or if they end the connection.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under their own policies - we can't issue them.
- For web purchases, email us and we'll consider it case by case.
None of this limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or any equivalent consumer law where you live. If a service isn't delivered as promised, those rights still apply, whatever this section says.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you add - your photos, memories, notes, drawings and answers. We don't claim it.
To actually run the app, we need your permission to store, copy, back up and display that content - to you, and to the partner you're connected to. That permission is limited to operating and improving Twofold, lasts only as long as we're hosting your content, and doesn't let us publish it, sell it, or show it to anyone else.
You're responsible for what you add. By adding it, you're confirming you have the right to.
Shared content, ending a connection, and deleting your account
Content you and your partner create together belongs to the relationship rather than to one of you individually. That has consequences worth being clear about:
- While you're connected, both of you can see all of it.
- Ending a connection - by removing your partner, or by either of you deleting an account - archives it. It stays readable to both of you in Settings → Help → Archived Data, but neither of you can change it any more.
- An archive is kept for 90 days, and is then permanently deleted for both of you. That happens automatically, on a date shown on the archive itself. Neither of you can bring it forward and neither of you can put it off: there is nothing in Twofold, for either partner, that deletes shared content early, and we won't do it on request either.
- If the two of you reconnect within those 90 days, you're offered your shared history back and the deletion date goes away. That applies to a connection you ended - not to an account you deleted, since a deleted account can't be signed into again and the archive belongs to the two accounts that made it.
- Either of you can hide an archive from your own list at any time. That affects only your own view and deletes nothing.
- Deleting your account doesn't delete shared content, because it's your partner's history too. It ends your connection, which starts the same 90-day clock - and unlike removing a partner, getting back together can't bring it back, because the account it was tied to is gone.
Export anything you want to keep before the 90 days are up, and before you delete your account. Settings → Help → Archived Data will give you the trips, memories, flights and games as files you can open without Twofold, with the photos alongside them. Once an archive is deleted it is gone for both of you, and we cannot recover it.
By using Twofold with a partner, you accept that a shared history is on this timer whether or not you would have chosen it, and that neither of you can change that for the other. If that isn't what you want, don't share it here.
What you can and can’t do
Use Twofold for your own relationship, lawfully, and don't:
- Use it to harass, threaten, monitor, coerce or harm anyone - including your partner. If someone does this to you, see "Reporting someone, and blocking them" below.
- Connect to someone under false pretences, or pressure someone into connecting.
- Upload anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes somebody else's rights.
- Upload someone else's personal information without their agreement.
- Try to break, probe or bypass our security, or access data that isn't yours.
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-extract anything from the app or the site.
- Reverse-engineer the app, or build a competing product from it.
- Resell or commercialise access, or use Twofold on someone else's behalf as a service.
- Interfere with the service, or with anyone else's use of it.
Twofold shows your partner the city you're in - either set by you, or updated automatically as you travel if you've allowed location access. It is a city, never a live position and never a trail of where you've been, and you can turn location access off and set your city by hand. Don't use it, and don't pressure a partner into allowing it, as a way of keeping track of someone.
Reporting someone, and blocking them
If someone sends you something abusive, or uses Twofold to harm or monitor you, tell us. In the app, "Report Abuse" is on the request before you accept it, and on your partner in Settings → Disconnect Partner. You can also email us.
We aim to respond to a report within 48 hours. We never tell the person that you reported them. Depending on what we find, we may remove content, suspend an account, or end it entirely - see Suspension and termination below.
You can block someone at any time, whether or not you report them. Blocking a request stops them sending another; blocking a partner disconnects you first. Either way they aren't told, and they can't reach you again. What the two of you shared is archived as normal and deleted on the usual 90-day timer - blocking doesn't delete it early, and doesn't keep it longer.
Don't use reporting to harass someone. Reports made in bad faith are themselves a breach of these terms.
Our content and intellectual property
Twofold - the app, the site, the design, the name and logo, and the questions, prompts, games and trivia inside it - belongs to us or our licensors. You get a personal, limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use it while these terms apply. Nothing here transfers ownership of any of it to you.
Flight, weather and other third-party information
Flight schedules and status come from a commercial flight data provider, and weather from Apple WeatherKit. An aircraft's live position and route may instead come from free, community-run flight-tracking services, which operate with no guarantee of availability or accuracy and can be wrong or silent without warning. We pass all of it on as we receive it: we don't verify it and can't guarantee it's accurate, complete or on time.
Don't rely on Twofold for anything that matters. Always check with the airline or airport directly before travelling. We're not responsible for a missed flight, a wasted trip to an airport, or any other decision made on the strength of what the app showed you.
Availability and changes to the service
- We'll do our best to keep Twofold running, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Maintenance, outages at our providers, and faults all happen.
- We may add, change or remove features, including changing what's included in a subscription tier.
- If we ever discontinue Twofold, we'll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your data before we do.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Twofold whenever you like, and delete your account from Settings.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used to harm someone, or where we're required to by law. Where it's reasonable and lawful to do so, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first.
If we terminate your account, the sections of these terms that are meant to survive - your content licence to the extent we still hold content, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability and governing law - continue to apply.
Feedback and the feedback board
Anything you post on our feedback board is public - readable by anyone, including people who aren't signed in and aren't Twofold users - and so is the first name and profile photo shown against it. Don't put anything private in it. If you send us an idea or suggestion - there or by email - you're giving us permission to use it without owing you anything for it. We're not agreeing to build it.
Disclaimers
Except for the guarantees that can't legally be excluded, Twofold is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind - including that it will meet your needs, be uninterrupted, or be free of faults.
Twofold is not a safety, security, emergency or medical service, and it isn't relationship advice or counselling.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded. Where we're allowed to limit our liability for a service, we limit it to resupplying the service or paying the cost of having it resupplied.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows:
- We aren't liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost opportunities, or loss of data beyond our reasonable control.
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it arose, or AUD $100 if you haven't paid us anything.
- We aren't liable for what your partner does with content you've shared with them, or for the consequences of either of you deleting a shared archive.
- We aren't liable for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including outages at the providers we depend on.
Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Twofold - content you uploaded, a law you broke, or a term here you didn't keep - you agree to cover the reasonable costs of dealing with it.
Privacy
How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We'll update these terms as Twofold changes, and revise the date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you don't agree with a change, stop using Twofold and delete your account - continuing to use it means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts there. If you're a consumer somewhere else, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections your local law gives you.
If there's a problem, contact us first - we'd much rather sort it out directly than have either of us go anywhere near a court.
General
- If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce something straight away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
- You can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours if our business is sold.
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Twofold, and replace anything said before.
- Section headings are there to help you find things - they don't change what the terms mean.
